Responsibilities of Visa office In Islamabad, Pakistan Are Changing

Effective April 01, 2010, the responsibilities at Visa Office in Islamabad, Pakistan are changing that will affect you if you are applying for immigration to Canada under any of the economic category (skilled worker (Federal or Quebec), business immigration and Provincial nominees).

This means that, as of 01 April, residents of Pakistan who wish to apply as Quebec Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominees, Investors, Entrepreneurs, or Self-Employed Persons must submit their applications to London. (Federal Skilled Workers will continue to mail their application and fees to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia for onward transmission to London.)

In addition, applications in economic categories already in inventory in Islamabad will be transferred to London, with the exception of applications at an advanced stage of processing where the officer has made a selection decision. Approximately 12,000 files in all economic categories will be transferred over the coming months. No negative impact on the processing time for transferred files is anticipated.

Will you be affected by the new change?

The new change in visa office responsibilities will affect you if you are an individual

  • who files an application for permanent residence in the Federal Skilled Worker, Quebec Skilled Worker, Provincial Nominee, Investor, Entrepreneur, or Self-Employed Person categories on or after 01 April 2010.
  • who filed an application for permanent residence in the Federal Skilled Worker, Quebec Skilled Worker, Provincial Nominee, Investor, Entrepreneur, or Self-Employed Person categories prior to 01 April 2010 and whose files are not in process or are at an early stage of processing on April1st.

Representatives are advised not to contact either London or Islamabad visa office about individual applications.

Canadian Visa Office in London will contact the applicants in due course, informing them of the transfer of their files and requesting any updated documents as they are placed into process.
